This causes efficiency and strengthens the areas of weak citizen involvement by making regional choices. Therefore the choice of expertise over citizens' wants is much more essential to make the choices in a correct manner which is why so many people are against the institution as it does not allow the chance of reform and reflect on the elective rights of human beings.


Ideological representation of democracy and ideally what it is supposed to provide is a great factor and influence on the democratic deficit. As the European Union can not fit the common understandings of a democratic institution due to the fact that the institution is being evaluated as though it is a modern state, rather than an entity itself. This can be supported by the claim that the European Union is acting as though it is a technocracy. This stems from the fact that the European Union’s policies are dependent on technocratic judges and parliamentarians. TO oppose this it has been stated that interference would harm and impose costs that no modern citizen would be willing to pay and that the European Union’s decision making reduces the cost saving the general public. This strengthens the viewpoint that making regional choices weakens citizen involvement but increases its efficency. Therefore the choice of expertise over citizens' wants is much more essential to make the choices in a correct manner.
