Minecraft Texture Packs: Building Creative Constructions with Improved Graphics

Minecraft is an online game that allows its player to build constructions made of textured cubes in a three-dimensional environment. The alpha version of the game was first released by Mojang, an Swedish company, in the month of May of 2009. In December 2010, a new beta version was released. Recently, Mojang released the latest version of Minecraft for iOS and Android platforms on November 18, 2011 at the MineCon 2011 trade show. The game is not supported by all Android-based devices. At present, Minecraft is exclusively available only for Xperia Play.



Minecraft's graphics are amazing. You will not find any shades in the graphics and it's available in low resolution images. The drawbacks can be addressed with Minecraft Texture packs or Mods. The Minecraft Texture Mods and Packs don't only give you more options of various backgrounds in the Minecraft world. Mods can also improve the resolution of the images. The Mods are only used to alter the graphics. However, the different backgrounds could make gaming more enjoyable and less boring. These Mods or texture packs are only available for Macs and Windows computers.



There are a variety of texture packs available for download and use in your Minecraft game. One of them is Optifine. The Optifine mod is very well-known due to its texture pack having both enhanced performance and graphic features. In reality, the change is not a major change. Nevertheless, the mod can soften certain effects in the game. Water Shade Alpha is another example of a Minecraft mod. This mod is not compatible with Optifine since they aren't compatible. Water Shade Alpha texture pack improves the water effects in the game.



To install a texture pack on Windows, you need to follow these instructions:



1. WinRar is a great extractor software.



2. Open the Start bar and then click the "run" option. If you use Windows XP, type "%appdata%.minecraftbin"; if you use Windows Vista or 7, you will need to type "C:Users*YourUserName*AppDataRoaming.minecraftbin".



3. After entering the data, you'll notice that a folder will appear. You will find minecraft.jar inside.

4. Right-click the file, click the "Open With ..."" option from the popup menu , and choose "WinRar Archiver". This step will bring you to the open WinRar program that displays the folders and files that have an extension of png.



5. Drag the textures from the pack and drop them into WinRar directly. This will alter the texture in the game. Your new textures will be ready for playing.
