Minecraft players should be on the lookout for Walter "softy" and his stinky pants.



Walter, Dennis the Menace and his dog Gnasher, from The Beano, can now be added to PC versions of the game.



Players can create the sausage for Gnasher and make use of all of Dennis Gnasher's best tricks such as catapults, stink bombs.



It's part of Beano's larger plans to expand into digital. The mod was developed in partnership between the cartoonist and Frima Studios, which is a Canadian multiplatform game developer.



Mark Cotton, who is responsible for digital transformations at Beano Mark Cotton, who is the head of digital at Beano Newsbeat that Minecraft is "their most fervent passion and their most cherished love"



Mark says the game is an "extension" of The Beano comic and an attempt to make The Beano "a more overall experience" for kids.



"Roughly 32,000 comics are sold every week of the Beano which is an impressive number," he says.



But it's still far less than the two million copies sold during the peak of the magazines.



"We are very aware kids today are captivated by digital," says Mark.



"We must transform The Beano into a 360 brand where Dennis and Gnasher is everywhere children are, instead of expecting them to come to us.



"So we're working on a whole series of initiatives over the next three to six months."



Some of these initiatives include puzzle games and interactive comics and an "action 3D game for kids".



The Beano's publisher DC Thompson has already extended the brand's reach to a television show, a photo-sharing application and YouTube channel.



Grand Theft Auto?



The comic has been around since 1938 and has many adult fans. Wanna talk about minecraft Also, could the Beano characters appear in any adult games - Dennis the Menace in Grand Theft Auto perhaps?



"No. Mark says, "No.



"We're focused on the 7 to 11-year-old digital product at the moment, digital is about really engaging with children and discovering their passions."



They've been working with 10 Minecraft and Beano enthusiasts aged 7-11 throughout the development process.



Minnie the Minx?



"We mostly asked children, 'If you put Beano into Minecraft What do you think?'



"This was the initial stage of what they envisioned. Obviously their imaginations are much greater than we can possibly do at the moment.



"But they wanted pranks They wanted Walter, they wanted Gnasher, they wanted to dress up as Dennis and that's exactly the thing we've given them.



"We'll continue to communicate with them. Our goal is to expand this and build Beanotown and let children be creative.



"Minecraft is so popular as it gives children the ability to make decisions. We cannot force children to do something and they'd be resistant.



Are there any other characters you could be allowed to participate in?



Mark says, "We certainly want to extend it."



"The obvious character and the ones the kids have been wanting is Minnie the Minx so that's what we'd likely look at next."
