Not content with just a few billions, Minecraft starts racking up more sales this week, when it goes live as a download game for Xbox One - and perhaps PS4 too. The Xbox One release date is locked in for Friday 5 September and 360 owners of Mojang's sandbox game will upgraded for $5/PS4 - Microsoft says the upgrade is applicable regardless of whether you own a disc or download copy. If not, the full price version will cost $20/PS16.
Although the PS4 release date is not yet confirmed however, Mojang's Daniel Kaplan tweeted saying that "Sony friends can expect an exciting Minecraft surprise soon...or perhaps earlier?" Minecraft servers This tease came after a PlayStation France tweet claimed that the PS4 version would be out today. However none of the other Sony channels have confirmed this. We'll inform everyone as soon as we find out a date for the PS4 version.

It's unlikely that the Vita version will be available this week. The team that was working on porting last week 4J Studios said it had "more work to do" before sending the Vita build to Sony for certification.
The new versions of Minecraft come with worlds that are up to 36 times larger than the predecessors of the previous generation, and larger draw distances. Also, PS3 and Xbox 360 owners can import their worlds into the PS4 and Xbox One versions respectively.
The news is coming in the same week that Mojang released Minecraft 1.8 on PC, the update that's been in development for the longest time at the Swedish studio with a total of 300 days. It's not a surprise that it's a bit of a biggie, adding numerous modifications that you can look through here. Highlights include new Guardian or Endermite mobs, which are balanced by the introduction of 'd'awww rabbits. There are also killer bunnies that aren't as d'awww, but still quite d'awww.
