Avanos Medical Recalls The Cortrak*2 Enteral Access System
According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Avanos Medical is recalling the Cortrak*2 Enteral Access System due to the incorrect placement of nasogastric and nasoenteric tubes has resulted in injury and death of patients. The recall includes 629 devices that were sold within the United States.

Avanos has promoted the Cortrak*2 Entraal Access System to help with the installation of a medical-feeding tube. Patients may however suffer damage to their vocal cords or lungs if the tube is not properly placed. Avanos Medical has presented a plan to offer users updated labels, to confirm the correct positioning of Nasogastric (and nasoenteric) tubes prior to using them.
