Avanos Medical (U.S. Food & Drug Administration) has announced it will recall Cortrak*2's Enteral access system. Avanos Medical released a recall announcement stating that there have been a total of 60 injuries and 23 deaths from the misplacement of a tube in 2015 due to the CORTRAK*2 Access System. Pulmonary failure, pneumothorax (collapsed lung tissue) and perforation (a hole in the esophagus or bowel wall), pneumonia, and an excess of fluid in the lung and chest cavity (the chest cavity as well as the lungs) are just a few of the injuries.
