Yes the image you see above is of a map built in Minecraft. It's a part of a massive realistic terrain project which offers 16 square kilometers of diverse topography to build your own on. It's a gorgeous collection of deserts, mountains, swamps, and forests that you can download and use as a backdrop for your own Minecraft constructions.
This map is called Kythor and was created by qwryzu using World Machine and World Painter. It took about two months to finish. "I intentionally made this map with wide open spaces to build," qwryzu says, "specifically using mods (shoutout Immersive Railroading gang). It's not the most detail dense map I have ever made, but I hope that the map will be an excellent background for large-scale constructions."
You can download the map over on Planet Minecraft. It is available for Java Edition and, although it was designed in 1.12.2 it is compatible with any current version. However, qwryzu isn't certain if the changes in the height of the world in 1.17 could cause problems.
Do it with a serious attitude, however.
