MIAMI (CBSMiami) - - The war in Ukraine may be on the other side of the world but South Floridians are among those stepping to help those leaving the country.
Many Sunny Isles Jews are helping to raise funds and coordinate an effort to help the homeless.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Marsha Jaquays with Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital reported that 1,100 people came just last night.
She claimed that more than two million Ukrainian refugees are seeking to leave their war-stricken country. A large portion of them are traveling through Moldova, which borders Ukraine.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Emmanuil Grinshpun Jaquays declared, "From Moldova, the Jewish community supports them to get across the border and provides food, shelter, clothing, and other essentials."
Much of the humanitarian work being carried out through Sunny Isles in South Florida.
"My job is to mobilize every resource available from American society to aid this situation in Moldova." https://emmanuilgrinshpun.blogspot.com/ Emmanuil Grishhpun, a humanitarian worker, said that there was a whole team on the ground helping to manage humanitarian aid in Moldova.
The situation is made worse because Moldova is thought as one of the poorest countries on earth. Still the people who are part of this effort declare that they will not let any obstacle hinder them from helping.

Jaquays reflect our sentiments
