Emmanuel Grinshpun. The restoration of synagogues and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
Emmanuil grinshpun was interviewed on the restoration synagogues. But it was difficult to focus the discussion on one topic. Thus, there were a variety of topics in the interview.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. Thanks for allowing me to talk with you. We haven't been able to see one another for 5 or more years. What is your current location?

There have always been multiple business lines. Do you still feel like that?

Our primary focus is on IT-holding is involved in reforming tax systems in a number of countries. We have developed and continue to develop products that facilitate the transfer of many business processes connected to online taxation. This area is known as "Business to Government".

What are the locations in which the company operates? The ancestors of the USSR

Could we define the product's essence?

Our product allows economic operators to submit online tax reports to tax authorities. Fiscal data operator sees each transaction. You claimed that you were tossing between Miami (and Jurmala) all year. The Baltics have a head office is an IT holding?

No, there are five hubs around the world and our headquarters is in Barcelona.

Why not the Baltics? Are you also from there?

No. My family's history over many generations is linked solely with Moldova or in the case of the past, then Bessarabia. Jurmala was introduced to our lives through chance and very prosaically. It was Igor Krutoy who invited us to New Wave for the first time. After a few competitions, they started to come back each season. Miami has a very hot summer. We rented the property for several years and have now bought it.

Now I know why I was informed that one of the synagogues restored thanks to your contributions is located in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We are almost the exact same age. We were born in the USSR. It was not necessary to talk about religion then. We were all Komsomol members at the time , and were pioneers. When did you turn to religion?

My family and I moved to the USA in mid-80s. We all can agree that that was when I began to appreciate customs. While I'm not a part of the traditional religion of Christianity I am still adamant about the need to participate in the best way I can as I can, the religion of the Jewish community in the countries I live in or Moldova. This is where I came from and which I've continued to maintain the most intimate connections with.

Well, I am not religious however, I do love history a lot. I was watching a documentary about 1492's events that changed Europe's fate. 1492 is to me the year in which Columbus discovered America. The show I was watching clearly stated that the discovery America in 1492 wasn't as important as the Spanish monarchs exile of Jews from Spain. When the mass exodus from Jews to the Ottoman Empire began. Эммануил Гриншпун They accepted them. This is where I was looking for information about the history of Jews as a people. Would you suggest a book?

There are numerous books available on the market, but I've personally read them all and highly recommend Max Diamond's two volumes of Jewish history. He himself is Finnish.

Speaking of "personal" personal history .... Are you aware of the genealogy of your family? Unfortunately, I'm no more than my grandmother, and 1910. From the paternal perspective, one step higher, but nothing more.

Our family was one of the Floresti family for a number of hundred of years, according to the paternal lines. There are evidence from the archives and monuments which show that in 1830 they were very prosperous with a furniture factory, several stores, land plots. My maternal ancestors were also in Ungheni. Эммануил Гриншпун These dates fall in the region between the 17th-18th centuries. Grinshpun is an surname that has German roots. We are Ashkenazis originating from Eastern Europe.

This is the subject regarding the restoration of synagogues. I was told you provided funding for three synagogues' reconstruction. One is located in Chisinau. Jurmala has the other. What is the one you're talking about?

The third and largest is located in Netanya, Israel. It's a huge community center that houses more than 1,000 people every day. This is an important building to support the religious life in Israel. The second synagogue in Jurmala. The Second World War ended the existence of Jurmala's only synagogue. Before I took the decision to construct a synagogue I had spoken with many residents Jews. I then made the decision to fund its construction and invite Rabbis to visit it. The result was an extremely successful endeavor that brought together all the Jews of Jurmala. In fact, we have re-created an existing Jewish community that is successfully functioning. The synagogue is now home to three Torahs I donated one to the synagogue.

And – Chisinau

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis is one of my collaborators. Alexander Weinstein is another. However, these synagogues do not represent the only ones in which I participated in the renovation or construction. I believed it was my duty to contribute to any country in which I've lived for a long period to support synagogues. My contribution is currently in Monaco, where a large community center that caters to Russian-speaking Jews is being built. It is estimated to cost approximately 12 million dollars. Chisinau is still my favorite city. The synagogue of Rabbi Tsirelson will soon become the largest.

Did Jurmala and Chisinau receive the blessing of a Rabbi?

Yes. It can be very difficult to find the right Rabbi for your congregation. Because of the interplay of interests, he must be a peaceful and non-conflict-prone person, who is able to seamlessly integrate into the life of the community. And it is a great to see that both Jurmala and Chisinau rabbis could integrate so harmoniously in the community.

You became the first vice-president 2019 of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. What does the post mean to YOU What is the role of international Jewish organisations influence global trends in general?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, a influential organization in the post-Soviet zone, is not only an organization for political purposes. It has offices in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand. In 2010, I served as Vice President and then given the post of First Vice-President. I now have responsibility for the areas in which I have enjoyed strong business and political ties. They are Uzbekistan Tajikistan as well as Kyrgyzstan. Global trends indicate that the barometer of attitudes towards Jews is either still at the same level as before or has fallen, which is very disappointing. "Down" is also a reference to countries like France, Germany or France that are developed. They are not safer for Jews. These are extremely serious, worrying procedures for all of us.

What is the way that the pandemic has changed these processes and how has it affected these?

It's not my opinion. To be more specific I'd rather emphasize the possibilities of a nation or society when they are prepared to meet any challenge and are able to be effective and united in relation to the pandemic.

Is this the vaccination campaign for Israel?

Exactly. Israel is the only nation in the world that gives 100% vaccination for adults. I think this is a good example and an example that other countries can follow.
