How to Install OptiFine to Dramatically Enhance 'Minecraft's' Graphics and Add new Features

OptiFine can be used in conjunction with Minecraft Forge, or separately from it. - OptiFine lets you optimize "Minecraft" for your computer and also alter the graphics.

How to install and use OptiFine in Minecraft' without mods



1. In a web browser of your choice, go to the OptiFine downloads page. If you aren't running the most current version of "Minecraft," click "Show all versions" to find and select the version that you are running.



2. Click "Download" next the OptiFine version that you wish to download. If you're taken to a page with an advertisement Click "Skip" in the upper right corner.



3. When you are redirected to the OptiFine Download page and you are prompted to download, click "Download" and save it wherever you can find. You might get a warning message about the download in your browser or on your computer. This is something you should not ignore.



4. Go to the OptiFine downloaded file. It will be an executable.jar. Double-click on the file to open the installer, and then click "Install." The OptiFine installer should now be installed successfully.



5. Open your Minecraft Launcher and in the drop-down menu to the left of the "Play" button, make sure that "OptiFine" is selected. Once you've selected it, click "Play."



6. When "Minecraft" is loaded, select "Options ..." from the main menu, and then "Video Settings." You'll be able to tell if the OptiFine download was successful when you see added options like "Shaders," "Details," and "Animations."



How to install and utilize OptiFine with 'Minecraft mods



1. Follow the steps above to download OptiFine. If you haven't, download Minecraft Forge as well. Follow our guide here.



2. Start the Minecraft Launcher app.

3. Click "Play" to play.



4. You'll find the "Mods" option in the Minecraft main menu. Click it, then select "Open mods folder." Java will automatically open the mods folder created by Forge.



5. Drag and drop the .jar OptiFine file that you downloaded into the mods folder.



6. Close "Minecraft" and relaunch it, this time running the Forge installation version. OptiFine is now integrated into Forge.



7. It's simple to confirm that it's been installed correctly. All you have to do is go into the main menu, select "Options ..."" and then "Video Settings." If you see additional options such as "Shaders," details, and "Animations", then OptiFine has been installed.



How to get started using OptiFine?

Increase your frames per second

After you've downloaded a shader pack, start "Minecraft" and then choose "Options," "Video Settings," and "Shaders." In the bottom of the shaders menu, click "Shaders Folder."



This will open a brand new folder on your computer. Transfer the downloaded file into this folder, and restart "Minecraft."



After restarting you'll see the latest shaders pack on the "Shaders" menu.

One of the more random features One of the more random additions is that installing OptiFine automatically allows you to zoom your camera while playing. This is great to see things which are far away without risking your life or life by being too close.
