Minecraft meet-up in Peterborough described as "awful"

Parents who are furious about Minecraft gamers have taken to social media to complain about "awful" queues and a lack of things to do at the unofficial convention.
On Saturday, approximately 4,100 people were at MineVention at Peterborough Arena to meet stars and play games.
However, a lot of people claimed that they waited for hours to meet idols or eat food , and demanded refunds.
Organiser Lisa O'Brien said the queues were long, and she'll issue a statement regarding refunds in the near future.
The event is not associated with Minecraft developer Mojang and was started in Ireland. It was the first time it was held in the UK.
TV presenter
It gave players of the global gaming sensation Minecraft which lets players construct various objects using cubic blocks - an opportunity to meet the world's most famous "Youtubers" and take photos and play games.
The event featured Jason Bradbury, TV's Gadget Show host, and urged participants to dress as Steve the game's main character in an attempt to break the world record.
However, it was criticized on social media for its long lines, the absence of food and stalls selling merchandise, and other issues.
Vicky Abraham shared on Facebook that she waited for her five-year old son for over an hour and just 30 seconds on a computer.
Minecraft Servers
Another parent reported waiting 45 minutes to buy an ice-cold bottle, saying the event was "appalling" with "naff-all to do". Another parent contacted the BBC to say that they left the venue after half an hour due to the long queues and that her son was "crying throughout the journey home."
Some people posted on Facebook that they were happy with the event, with one of them said: "I thought your event was fantastic for PS15."
Lisa O'Brien of O'Brien Event Management said that she sympathized with parents since we all have children. She said queues were 45 minutes long because of the large number of people who turned up on the day, rather than purchasing tickets in advance.
She said the convention was the first time it was done on such a scale before, and that some official merchandise didn't arrive in time for the event.
She said that organisers had "taken on everyone's comments and suggestions" and were set to meet to determine what went wrong, adding that a new statement would be issued on Monday evening.
