Reporters Without Borders has found an innovative new platform for broadcasting banned media in some of most oppressive nations in the world: Minecraft.
The advocacy group has opened an online space on a dedicated server for the game of video that is popularly known as "The Uncensored Library," accessible to any of Minecraft's 145 million monthly users.
The library will feature news stories that were censored in the country they originated from and influenced by the neoclassical architecture of the ancient Rome and Greece.
The Uncensored Library is a new virtual library within Minecraft which was developed in part by Reporters Without Borders to host the work of journalists banned or restricted in their countries of origin.
In the beginning, the library will be filled with stories from five countries which rank near the bottom of Reporters Without Borders' World Press Freedom Index that include Egypt, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam.
The stories will be published in English and in the language they were originally written in.
The text of the stories can't be altered or edited However, anyone with access to the Minecraft server hosting the library will be able to read the stories.
