The Raitalay Terrace is open for lunch and dinner and serves a wide range of international dishes to the beautiful backdrop of Railay Beach. The Grotto is a firm favourite – a unique dining venue underneath an ancient limestone cliff with barbecue nights. In the hotter season, the swimming pool is enough for children to play every day. On the day before we left, we walked through the corridor on the G floor with a suitcase.
The hotel organises a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. You can also fly in via Phuket which is a two-hour drive. Reminiscent of a Thai village, the two-storey pavilions and luxurious private villas are scattered throughout the grounds. Deluxe Pavilions have a circular design with an upstairs bedroom, while Terrace Pavilions have an outdoor area. Family Pavilions are recommended for groups and families – they have plenty of space with two bedrooms and a private pool. Music and lights are kept low so that you can hear the sounds of the waves while the hot air mixes with the heady scents of spices cooking in the kitchen. The grilled Angus beef striploin cooked with a spicy basil sauce is stunning with deliciously tender meat, and the beef in red curry is just the right blend of heat and sweet.
We already wrote about the Rayavadee Villa, but on the property there are also three Family Villas, two Phranang Villas and a Raitaly Villa. Of course, each villa comes with its own private pool. Fly into Krabi International Airport, just 23 kilometres from the parking area of the resort's Nong Nuch access pier (or around a 40-minute drive). Krabi is served by numerous direct daily flights from capital Bangkok.
