CHECK - If there is no wager on the current betting round, a player may check. The act of checking passes the action to the next poker player immediately clockwise from him or her. A check does NOT forfeit any interest in the pot. It only gives you the right to place a bet. The round is complete if all players check during a round.
The play of a Hold 'em hand is fairly simple. Each player is dealt two cards face down. Then comes a round of betting. The table then receives three cards, which are dealt face up. These are common to all the players. Next comes a round betting. A single card is then dealt face up and another round of betting follows.
After betting stops on the flip, a fourth deck of cards is dealt face up to all players. The next round of betting begins. This round is known by the turn.
Another term for betting is checking. It is permitted when there are no pending stakes. A person may check if he does not want to put in any money.

What makes this game so unique is the fact that players don't necessarily have to have the best hands to win. Imagine you've got ten people and gave them one card each and told them to race up a hill. The person who climbs the highest will be declared first and win. If there was a tie, the two players would hold up the card they were given and the highest card would win. Poker is similar in principle. The pot would be won by the player with the best hand who keeps the hand alive. If there is only visit here who makes it up the hill or who stays in the hand, they would be the winner, regardless of the card or hand they held. So, if only one person reached the top of the hill or stayed in the hand, he would win regardless of what his hand was.
