Kindle Short Reads - Getting Started With KDP Select
There seems to be two camps when it comes to the Kindle. On one side are people who like the flexibility of the Kindle for reading books on the go. On the other side are people who think that there's too much room for creativity on the Kindle as an eBook reader. Here's my take on the "creativity" issue.

Fact: The Kindle does not limit you to any number of short reads or short story selections. You can still sell Short Reads and Short Stories in the Kindle Store. But the marketplace has gotten very competitive. According to my research, 10% of all Kindle books and 20% of all short stories show a positive competition-to-market split. That's a pretty big chunk of change. In fact, if you add up the sales of all the books, magazines, and other materials printed on paper and Kindle, you'll see quite a big number.

Now then, the other camp argues that it's really easy to create new content on the kindle. That the Kindle does not have a screen like a computer. Well, let me argue this one with the kindle's patent. The US Patent and Trademark Office has granted patents for inventions on many different subjects including computer programs, cellular phones, and the kindle. So the claim may be that the new Kindle does not have a screen because it doesn't have a computer or a cell phone.

This is interesting. The fact is that kindles do have screens. The kindle has a very large LCD display. It's not like a small black-and-white screen like an old dot-matrix printer. However, the ability to take full advantage of the Kindle's multi-orientation support for reading and viewing makes the short read or short stories something that could have been done with a dot matrix printer.

However, let's also remember that the Kindle does not have to have color print. There are still a lot of options in the Kindle store. You can get the same quality graphics that you would get from a regular book on kindle, but you can also get shorter, 15 minute reads that you can carry around with you wherever you go. These short stories can even be stored on your Kindle, so that you can read them whenever you're ready for a quick short story.

The only problem is that not every kindle short stories reader wants to carry around a book. Kindle's eReader concept doesn't allow you to download books to your Kindle. This feature means that people who want a lot of books will have to buy them or download them onto their computer or Kindle. If you don't mind buying a lot of books once and then transferring them over to kindle, this is a great feature of the eReader.

That said, if you're looking for short reads and are tired of paying per book, you'll definitely want to consider the Kindle's free, two month royalty scheme. The Kindle's royalty scheme allows you to download unlimited books for two months straight, at no extra cost. That's great news if you're an avid reader and don't want to spend money on new books. Kindle's free short reads are also a money saver if you don't need to buy a lot of books and only need a couple a month.

In addition to being able to use the short-reads for as many books as you'd like, in addition to the Kindle's free Kindle Short Reads program there's also the new KDP Select product line. KDP Select is Amazon's newest electronic magazine that provides new and emerging authors with free publication options. As part of the new royalty scheme, KDP Select works in conjunction with Amazon to offer eligible authors free publication rights and page lengths in print, which can mean great things for new authors!
