He is the elder of three sons who was born to Elder T.E Oyakhilome (one of the founders of Assemblies for God Church in Benin City) and Angelina. Angelina was the matriarch and imprinted her divine grace to her son at the age of a child.

The LoveWorld ministry is comprised of all members of the family. Reverend Ken is his brother and is the revered Pastor of Christ Embassy's Houston Texas Church. He is also a member of the Christ Embassy Central Executive Council. KattyWorghiren is the director for the LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry that has a host of gospel top-selling artists.

Pastor Chris is blessed with two daughters, Charlene and Carissa Sharon. Carissa Sharon, who is also referred to by CSO she has chosen to follow the footsteps of her father, sharing the Word of God the world. She is an accomplished, award-winning gospel singer and part of the LoveWorld Music and Arts Family.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome started his studies at Edo College. Then he was awarded a scholarship that allowed him to study at Bendel State University, now Ambrose Ali University. There he earned an BSc. in Architecture as well as an honorary Doctor of Science. He also has an honorary doctorate in divinity from the Benson Idahosa University. Ambrose Ali University was the place where he sensed God calling him to become an ordained minister to the Lord.

It was also the foundation for the future Christ Embassy and LoveWorld Incorporated, with millions of followers all over the globe.

The LoveWorld ministry was founded under the leadership of Pastor Chris. It is a pioneer in satellite TV, Christian TV production and programming. LOVEWORLDSAT was the first Christian television station broadcasting from Africa 24/7 on free-to-air channels. There are LoveWorld satellite and cable television stations all over the globe.

Christ Embassy has strong presences in Pastor Chris's home country of Nigeria as well as South Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. The church operates two Healing Schools located in South Africa and Canada, in which Pastor Chris organizes seasonal sessions during which miracles are performed.
