Ensure that your succulents receive enough light
Light is essential to succulents, and they need about six hours of sunlight each day. Succulents can scorch in direct sunlight, so it's best to gradually expose them to sunlight or provide shade with a sheer curtain.
Rotate Succulents Frequently
The plant will thrive in direct sunlight, but if you keep it in the same place day after day, it is likely to be getting a little too much light on one side. Langton and Ray propose rotating the plant frequently. Rotating succulents will help them stand up straight because they lean toward the sun. If rhipsalis types are leaning towards the sun, they may need to move.)
Water According to the Season
In periods of growth, succulents need more energy. In the spring and summer, plants thrive and drink much more water than they do when they're resting during the fall and winter. When the top 125 inches of the soil are dry, Langton and Ray recommend watering the soil. Overwatering can kill your succulent, so make sure the soil dries between waterings.
Water the Soil Directly
Make sure to soak your succulents until water runs out of their drainage holes. Use less water if your container doesn't have drainage holes. Don't spray your succulents with water as this can cause brittle roots and moldy leaves. Additionally, you can soak pots in a pan of water while allowing the water to seep through the drainage hole. When the soil is moist, remove it from the pan.
Keep Succulents Clean
Indoor plants will gradually pick up dust on their surfaces, which can inhibit their growth, state Langton and Ray. With a damp cloth, wipe the leaves and spines. (Use a soft brush to reach hard-to-reach areas).
Choose a Container with Drainage
In order to prevent rot, succulents do not like sitting in waterlogged soil. A drain hole should be provided in your container so that excess water can escape. Beginners will enjoy Terra-cotta pots.
Proper Soil for Succulents
It is not recommended to use regular potting soil from your yard for succulents as they require drainage. Cactus soil or potting soil mixed with sand, pumice, or perlite will work best. Be gentle with succulent roots when repotting.
Get Rid of Bugs
Although insects don't usually bother indoor succulents, you may need to deal with them occasionally. Grates are attracted to succulents in moist soil with poor drainage, which are attracted to gnats. Isopropyl alcohol is used to kill eggs and larvae in the soil. Succubus owners also have to cope with Mealybugs. Overwatering and overfertilizing are the most common causes of mealybug attacks. Isopropyl alcohol at 70 percent should be sprayed on infected plants to remove them from other succulents.
Fertilize Succulents in the Summer
The best time to feed succulents is during spring and summer, when they require light feedings. Do not overfertilize your succulents too much as this can make them grow too quickly and weaken them.
