Here are five suggestions for growing succulents that are healthy
There are identify succulent plants of examples of them in interior design magazines, in wedding centerpieces, and even on Instagram. Currently, succulents are everywhere. It isn't true, as often reported, that succulents are easy to grow. Although it can be easy, there is an adjustment period. Consider the constant sun, monsoon-like downpours, and the boomerang temperature changes that are characteristic of desert days if you wish to have more success.

The following tips can help you if you're having trouble understanding why your jade plant is losing its leaves or sedum plants continue to wrinkle even though you water them regularly. The following are five of the common succulent mistakes newbies make, and how to fix them.

Failure to Provide Enough Light
In order to accurately replicate the natural light in an indoor environment, perhaps the biggest challenge is to replicate the natural light in a plants native habitat. We have a much easier time with common houseplants. Tropical jungles are home to many pests that are used to shifting periods of shade and sun. A forest canopy moves over the sun naturally as the sun moves.

But if a plant used to spending twelve hours in the sun is placed on a south-facing sill, it is destined to die. If your only window faces elsewhere, pick a more forgiving succulent, like aloe, or let your fears guide your choice and go with a pothos instead.

Not Understanding Their Watering Needs
During the Chihuahuan Desert's relatively short growing season, the desert receives a little more than 9 inches of rain a drop in the bucket when compared to the lush landscapes around us. When it rains in the desert, however, it pours. Your own desert-dweller will be happier if rainfall patterns similar to those in which it lives are emulated. Turn on the taps and let a deluge of water gush over your cacti.

Plants, including succulents, benefit from soaking, until water comes out of the bottom of the pot. Wait until the soil has completely dried out before watering succulents again.

Selecting a standard potting soil
Most potted plants come in a standard soil mix that can be used for plants of all types, from ferns to fiddle-leaf figs. Succulents are designed to withstand some of the harshest environments on earth, so regular potting soil won't cut it.

Change the soil in your succulent baby once it is home to a desert-dweller mix, combining half potting soil with inorganics like perlite. This super-well-draining, low-nutrient soil will be just right for most succulent species, regardless of whether they're used to high altitudes and the intense heat of Death Valley.

In most cases, succulents come packed together in cute little dishes, all pushed cheek by jowl. This arrangement is not suited to most plants, including succulents. Mold and insect infestations can be encouraged by overcrowding.

Another problem is that succulents can do well without much food or water, but they still need both. There is too much competition, so they may not succeed. When your succulents arrive in a crowded arrangement, pluck them out carefully and give each one a mini desert dune.

Growing Impractical Types
Please don't grow saguaros indoors. types of sansevieria know it's hard to resist but don't. Some wild things just can't be tamed, no matter how pretty their flowers or how enticing their form may be. Stick instead to the tough little cookies who will happily live on the windowsill.

When you're working in indoor conditions, Crossula is an excellent choice, as is Sansevieria (also known as Echinacea). snake plant). Another good selection for those looking for prickly plants is Mammillaria cacti (so named for their woolly hair, see above).
