This was my personal greatest failure on an official trip. I was invited to join the group of my colleagues. We were headed south to meet with one of the biggest oil tycoons in the Middle Eastern region. Because I was the most involved in the process, there were a variety of phases that had to be completed prior to the presentation. I was granted one. This was my chance to showing my manager that I'm up for the big time. It was great. I was informed of the time and location of the event that I was responsible for, and it appeared to be scheduled to happen in the deep underground bunker, as I was in charge of the onsite digital security for the emergency room of the local extraordinarily wealthy businessman. Since I do not want anyone to be identified in my writing exercises, I will not mention or titulate any of the characters in this tale. The demonstration was intended to mimic a real-life chain of events that would cause the businessman to retreat into his home in panic with family members close to him and a small army. This was an extremely unusual situation. Let's get through this. I am beginning to set up the powerpoint component of the presentation. You don't know what? There's no Internet. Is that really true? Lockdown has already begun, so there is no way to escape or access the email with your presentation. But I am not doing this for the first time. The other night, I utilized Youtube to convert mp3s to download audio. This enabled me to memorize my speech more than reading it off paper. This was a mistake, as I wanted to use a higher quality audio format. But, as of now, I have the video on my laptop, ready to use.


I was blessed. Unforeseen circumstances prevented me from connecting to the Internet. I was able to save the presentation to then re-record it with video and audio. I'd memorized the bulk of the material. The speech was just 3 minutes long and conveyed confidence. It resulted in 47 new clients, many of whom are of greater caliber, who have signed contracts that are in excess of hundreds of thousands. We're planning to work with them into the future.
