(Shurt hadin) Israeli NGO snatch Ben and Jerry's West Bank trademark to protest the boycott

Shurat HaDin is an Israeli NGO that has sought to take over the Ben & Jerry trademarks in the West Bank settlements, Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem and Jewish neighborhoods in order to sell ice cream under its famous brand.

This was a possibility, according to Shurat HaDin, as the global Ben & Jerry's and its parent company, Unilever, had announced plans to stop selling to those areas as an act of protest against Israeli policies.

Shurat HaDin's president Nitsana Darash-Leitner sent a letter to Unilever (a British company that has owned Ben & Jerry's in Vermont since 2000) noting, "The Shurat HaDin Law Center now has registered an organization as a business on the Israeli corporation register, which is known as Judea and Samaria's Ben & Jerry's."

This is in spite of the fact that the boycott isn't scheduled to begin in 2023 until the expiration date of the current agreement with local ice cream producers.


Avi Zinger, the owner of the Israel franchise has stated that he isn't planning to leave the Green Line when selling icecream.
