Classic Tour Of China & Yangtze River Cruise
Victoria Cruises is the only American cruise line currently sailing China's Yangtze River. Based in New York, Victoria Cruises established new standards of excellence for sailing Chinas Yangtze River when its first ship edged out of port in 1994. The first time was in 1992, in the summer when I was in junior high school. My mother took me and a son of her friend's on a 10-day cruise trip on the Yangtze River between Chongqing and Yichang, Hubei province. At that time, there were only a few large luxurious vessels and they all only served foreign tourists. For chinayangze , we took mid-ranged ships with less fancy facilities, very similar to the original Eastern Star before it was revamped into the current look.

The river cruise itself is typically just a short part of the entire cruisetour itinerary, with time on the river only encompassing three to five nights .


We have cruised up and down the Yangtze River numerous times with Victoria Cruise Lines, and have enjoyed the scenery, the shore excursions and the cruise experience greatly. The accommodations, the meals, and crew entertainment made our time on board a truly great experience. We have found all the staff and crew from the Captain down to be very professional and courteous, treating all passengers equally at all times, and making us feel like family members. The River Guide and the Cruise Director were very experienced and helpful from the time we arrived. Today, the ship passes two of the Three Gorges – the Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge. After lunch is a shore excursion to Shennong Stream which is tributary of Yangtze river and one of the highlights of the cruise.

An elegant Captain’s Farewell Banquet is served on the final night of the cruise. If you have special dietary requirements , please advise us of your needs at the time of booking. After breakfast, travel by coach bus to Shanghai, and then fly to Yichang, the starting point of your Yangtze River Cruise. After dinner, we board the luxury Yangtze Cruise and receive an introduction on cruise events and on board activities.


Most of the luxury cruise ships dock at Chaotianmen Pier. The Chaotianmen Pier is the starting point of the downstream cruise, near the Jiefangbei, the most famous shopping center in the west China. Most of the cruise liners have the best English-speaking guides and the plush ships.
