The Israeli NGO Shurat HaDin has moved to obtain the Ben & Jerry's trademark in the West Bank settlements and Jewish areas of east Jerusalem to make and sell ice cream there under the well-known brand name.
Shurat haDin explained that this move was possible because Ben & Jerry's global and parent company, Unilever, had planned to stop selling products to these regions as a result of an opposition to Israeli policies.
Israel Law Center Shurat HaDin's President Nitsana darshan-Leitner sent a letter to Unilever which is a global British company. Unilever has been the owner of the global Ben & Jerry's restaurant since 2000.

The Jerusalem Post was told by Sheri that only those areas that Ben & Jerry's have withdrawn would be sold. Unilever's commitment to continue selling to Israel's "Occupied Palestinian Territory", doesn't necessarily mean that the brand new Ben & Jerry's cannot be sold in those zones.
