Israel group's fight to claim [Shurat hadin]

An activist group for legal rights based in Israel is calling on Australian survivors of the Holocaust and their descendants to join the program to sue insurance companies whose Holocaust-era antecedents refused to pay out for policies held by displaced European Jews.

Israeli attorney and human rights advocate Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, the founder of Shurat HaDin Israel Law Centre she told the AJN the initiative, Project Last Chance, will sue insurance companies who used the chaos of World War II and the Shoah to deny claims to victims, survivors , and their heirs.

"My goal is to get compensation for victims at the time they die. Shurat HaDin uses its financial expertise to hunt banks that hold terrorist assets.


"We've initiated legal proceedings against countries that have been a part of the banking system, against banks, and against companies that have been aiding and encouraging terrorism. nitsana darshan leitner We're experts and are not scared to go after the big corporations, large countries or banks with huge international reach," she added.

Shurat Hadin Shurat Haidin is also launching legal action against Israel to get access to the names of 140,000 Holocaust survivors/descended who have declared around two million assets under Israel's Project Heart. The Israeli government, in conjunction with the Jewish Agency for Israel invited applicants to take part in the restitution program. But, the scheme was abruptly shut down, leaving all registered participants in limbo.
