Online video storage is not reliable. Websites can shut down or cease to function. Here's how to backup your social videos onto your personal computer.

My story isn't a huge one. My story is not a long one. I was born, went to school, worked and finally got online. There were also some moments where I felt like everything was gone forever. One of those moments was when the computer in my house suddenly stopped working. After a few minutes of tweaking, moving the hard drive from my old drive to the new drive, and installing the new desktop, my work was restored. It took me three days to shed tears and sweat... however, I did learn one thing. Dropbox and my personal FTP server will automate and manually backup my work day so that it is never lost.

However, it's not the best option. The more information you store online, the more you'll have to pay for it to be saved online. It's simple and seems to be secure. It's possible to download it anywhere that the internet permits. But what if you don't have access to internet? These are the times when I am glad having my laptop with me. It is my last safe place for the backups. I have 2 drives there connected as a RAID stack therefore they copy one another and make sure that 1 copy is retained if one of the 2 HDDs fails. Because I copy most of my stuff there, it's not often that my laptop is working. I don't want two drives to be destroyed at the same time.

Another sad day was a few months ago. I am very careful not to lose all my work, as I said in the previous paragraph, and now I duplicate it many times and access it from anywhere internet access is available. It was Periscope. I used it a lot times in the past. I even participated in live streaming during the Riots of summer of 2020. Periscope TV has now been shut down, and all videos will be gone in a matter of weeks. What do I do now? I need all the videos to be downloaded so that they are able to be saved off-line on my laptop. These are dear to me. This was the last time I had a night out with my friend.

I visit his website, which allows me to download videos directly from Youtube, Instagram, Facebook as well as other sources. I am passionately involved in politics, underground movements and so I film a lot, save and post them on my YouTube channel. When the live stream is finished the footage is downloaded to my laptop. This is just how I am. It allows me to cross-post videos on multiple platforms. It allows me to share a YouTube video on Facebook but also upload it to Facebook. Every video is a separate video. As it turns out, I have more than 3TB of live streams that I've made in the last 8 years. Periscope live streams don't go away.. I find this site very useful.


It's a breeze. Start the Periscope video that I would like to download and copy the URL using the share link. Then, I go to the website for video downloads to copy the URL, then click the button. Within minutes, I am presented with a variety of options to download video. Periscope isn't on all websites. However, this website does provide Periscope assistance.
