A mystery letterbox is a great activity that's done outside and is also fun for all ages. This makes it an excellent family fun activity. Not only does it let you be in the fresh air, just about all exercises your brain by wanting to solve a puzzle.
If you aren't informed about letterboxing, it is a hobby of sorts. why not try this out moving on the moors of England and after this has spread towards the U.S. and other aspects of the planet.
Basically, a letterbox is really a container you will find outside somewhere. A common spot to hide them is at parks on trails.
What's inside this mysterious container? Simply this: a log book, a rubber stamp, and usually an ink pad. Yup, there you have it.
What your are doing is collecting stamps. The stamp within the box usually represents it. So a box across the trail to Mt. Washington would probably be a picture of Mt. Washington. Most of those stamps are hand-carved by whomever hid the therapy lamp, in order that they are pretty intricate and unusual.
When it is time to set out to pick one up of those boxes, the very first thing one does is lookup and use clues that may be available on a website. Then off you go. You bring with you your individual logbook and your individual "signature stamp" that represents you. This stamp can be hand-carved.
When the box can be found, you are taking the stamp from this area and stamp it into the personal logbook. Over time you collect hundreds and even thousands of stamps. But you also stamp your personal signature stamp in the book that lives inside box. This demonstrates you've been there. It's lots of fun to take a look in the comments from all the people who are finding that specific box.
So have no idea of mystery letterbox different from a consistent one? Well, for ordinary boxes, the "clues" are really directions. They tell you wherever to venture to find the lamp. For instance, the clue might say "Take the skyline trail, in the first fork go left, in 10 steps look behind the 3-trunked tree in your right."
