Online video storage is not reliable. Websites can shut down or fail. Here's how you can save the social media content onto your personal computer.

My personal story isn't that large. I was born in the USA, went to school, worked, and then found my first job online. There were also some moments where I felt like all was lost forever. One of those moments was when my laptop computer at home became unresponsive. After some tweaking, getting an entirely new desktop and moving the hard drive from one drive to the other, I was finally able to restore all the work saved on the drive. It took me three days of sweating and crying... I've learned one thing. To automatically or manually backup my day's work using Dropbox and my personal FTP servers to ensure that nothing can ever be deleted.

This is definitely not the ideal option. The more information you store online is the higher the cost you'll have to pay for it to be preserved online. It is easy to use and seems to be very secure. It's also easy to download it from any device connected to the internet. What happens if WiFi or another internet connection is unavailable? I have my laptop on hand for these times. It is my last line of defense against the most difficult situations. There are two drives I have, which I use as RAID stacks. They copy each other and keep one copy in the event that one of my HDDs is damaged. Because I copy most of my stuff there, it's not often that my laptop is working. I don't wish for two drives to be destroyed on the same date.

Some time ago, another major day of grief was. As I've mentioned before I take care not to lose any work I've done. I now copy it multiple times and have it available wherever internet access is available. This was Periscope. It was something I often used couple of years ago, and even during the riots of 2020, I did several live streams. But Periscope TV suddenly closed, and all videos are expected to disappear in a few weeks. What can I do? If I want to save these videos on my laptop offline I have to download the entire collection. These videos are extremely important for me. I was with my friend when he vanished from the radar of Covid. It seems like it took him.

I'm a fan of politics and underground movements, so I take a lot of videos of live events and save them for later use. I then publish some videos on my YouTube channel and save it into my computer. The current 25-second stretch gets 3-4 fragments. It helps reduce the amount of downloading required for viewing the stream in just 25 seconds.
