Video storage on the internet isn't reliable websites can shut down or cease to function. Here's how to backup the social media content to your personal computer.

My story isn't a big one... I was born, then went on to school and worked, fought and finally, achieved something online. But it also includes a few devastating moments, where I believed that all was lost forever. One of those instances was the time my laptop computer went completely quiet. However, after a little tweaking and moving my old hard drive to the new and installing a new desktop I was able to restore all the work on the drive. It took me three days of sweating, and literally tears... After that I've learned one thing - to use Dropbox and my personal ftp servers to automatically and manually backup my entire day's work, so that nothing is deleted.

However, it's not the best option. The larger your online data storage capacity, the more you have to spend to keep it. It's quite simple and secure. It's possible to download it anywhere that the internet permits. What about those times when access to the internet isn't feasible? I'm happy to always carry my laptop around in those instances. It is my last safe harbour for backups. I have 2 drives each one with an RAID stack. They copy each others and ensure there is at least one copy in case one of the HDDs is destroyed. I only copy data to them to ensure that the laptop does not fail.

Another sad day was a few months ago. I am very careful not to lose all of my work, and as I stated earlier, I now copy it multiple times and have access to the internet wherever it is. This was Periscope. I was a frequent user of it years back. I even did live streams during the Riots of summer of 2020. Periscope TV has now been shut down, and all videos will disappear within weeks. What should I do? I want all the videos to be downloaded so that they are able to be saved offline on my laptop. Those videos are very significant to me. I was with my friend when he disappeared from the radar of Covid. It's like it took him.

https://keepvid.wf/ It is a site that I regularly go to. It lets me download video clips for Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook which are the other sites that host my live streaming. I am interested in politics and underground movements. Therefore, I record many live events, and save certain ones for later, and then publish them on YouTube. Every time I finish live, I save it to my laptop. That's what I do. It also allows me to cross-post videos to different platforms. This means that I can not just share a YouTube video via Facebook but also upload that identical video to Facebook. This will be a separate video. It turns out that I have over 3TB of live streams that I've created in the past 8 years. Periscope live streams don't go away.. I find this website extremely helpful.

It's a breeze. You can open the video you'd like to download using Periscope, Youtube, or Facebook. Copy its URL using the share link. Next, I go to the video downloader's website and copy the URL. I can then download the video to my computer or to my desktop. I can save it to my computer to utilize on other platforms. I can even give it to my friends. Periscope cannot be accessible by all sites. But this one can.

If you're not familiar with this, Windows can utilize the copy command to assist you join these fragments to create a normal one-long video file. This happens because of the format for video Mpeg TS (or transport stream) that is used to create the video fragments. It includes all the information necessary for video decoding within each fragment which makes them distinct from the stream and allowing each newcomer to begin streaming seamlessly. It also keeps data off the browser, as it downloads 360x10 seconds files instead of the standard 1hr file. That means that if you watch only 25 seconds of the stream it will only download 4-6 pieces. (It gets 3-4 fragments of the current 25 second period, plus 1-2 subsequent fragments if you continue to watch the stream). This greatly reduces the total amount of data required to stream the stream for the full 25 seconds.
