Online video storage is not reliable. Websites can shut down or cease to function. Here's how to back up your social video content to your personal laptop.

My personal story isn’t too large. My story isn't an extensive one. I was born, went to school, worked, and finally made it online. It also contains some very difficult times when I believed that everything was over. One such moment was when my home computer went dark. But after a bit of tinkering, getting new desktop and moving my hard drive from the old into new one, I was able to restore the entire work on that drive. It took me three days of be a mess and cry... however, I did learn a thing. Dropbox and my personal FTP server can be used to automatically and manually back up my day's work so that it is never lost.


But it's not the best option. The bigger your data storage becomes the more you will have to pay to retain everything in it, to keep it running. It's simple and appears safe. It's also accessible, and it can be downloaded from any location that has internet. What happens when internet access isn't possible? It is very comforting to always have my laptop because it serves as my last option for backups. I have 2 drives there coupled as RAID stack, which means they copy each other and ensure that one copy is retained if one of the 2 HDDs goes broken. Since I don't copy much the laptop doesn't work very often. This is the reason I'm hoping that neither of the drives go out simultaneously.

Another sad day occurred a few months ago. I'm cautious not to lose my work. As I mentioned, I now copy it many times over and can access it instantly wherever the internet is available. This post was not about Periscope. I was a frequent user of it times in the past. I even participated in live streams during the Riots in summer 2020. Periscope TV has now been shut down and all content will be gone in a matter of weeks. What do I do now? To save the videos that are offline on my laptop I have to download the entire collection. These are very special for me. It's the last time I've seen my friend, who disappeared from radars in Covid. Seems like it took him away.

It's a website I use to download video clips from Youtube, Instagram, Facebook as well as other websites. I am a fan of politics and underground movements, so I film a lot of live events, then save videos for the future and then publish them on my Youtube channel, and each time live ends, I save the video to my laptop. This is just what I do. This lets me cross-posting videos on multiple platforms. Not only can I post Youtube videos on Facebook, but I can also upload the video directly onto Facebook. It's its own video. So that I am now able to upload three TB of live feeds I've created over the last 8 years. Periscope will not disappear.. This site really helps me.
