if you place a character in a cool world, its kind of like, "meh".
its not until you see the character reaction to this world when things really get interesting.
Even better when you make the character's action impact the world, which cause it to somehow react to the character.
It's a cycle of cause and effect.

because willy and darby like exploring the store, they are outcasts from mostly senile plushies
because they are outcasts, willy and darby don't like staying in the store
because they don't like the store, they want to leave
but Darby does not want to leave because she fears the wilderness and savagery of the world
Because of this, Willy reassures her saying she'll always be there for her
But Darby is still reluctant, so Willy gives her a dictionary to let her name and understand everything that's happening.
Because of this, Darby is more calm, but they don't know how to escape.
one day, a group of plushies come in and try to escape
because they are trying to escape and don't work well as a team,

because willy and darby join the plush group, they leave the store
