panjang batangnya 2-10 m, memanjat dengan sulur, panjang tangkai daun 4-9 cm, berlekuk menjadi 5-7 buah, pangkal daun berbentuk jantung, pangkal daun berbentuk jantung, warna permukaan atas daun hijau tua, dan bawah daun hijau muda, panjang 6-25 cm,serta lebar 7,5-27 cm. Bunga berkelamin tunggal, terdapat dalam satu pohon. Mahkota bunga berwarna kuning. Buah tergantung atau tergeletak di atas tanah
bentuknya silindris atau bulat memanjang, panjang 10-50 cm dengan garis tengah 5-10 cm, jika sudah tua berwarna cokelat.
