The Game of Fan Tan
Fan Tan is a popular solitaire card game where players try to empty their decks before they can play. The four sevens are always the only ones that can be played initially. The 7 & 8 are only played once. after the seven in a suit is used, the 6 & 8 can only be played, and so forth. Once all the playing cards are used and the player who has the most cards after everyone else has folded is the winner. The game is often referred to as a simpler version of solitaire. It's not as difficult as the stress of dealing with the alternating rows of playing cards, and you don't have to worry of hitting the correct button on your keyboard to open the Ace of Coins. It's a great alternative to playing solitaire on your own.

Fan Tan was first played in China It is evident by its early spelling, 'fan tian', which literally translates to 'eight cards which when translated can mean'seven cards face down'. Sevens are represented by coins in certain variations of the game. Later it was replaced with the numbers seven and eight in different variations. They remained the same in their significance, but were no longer considered to be coins. The modern Fan Tan allows each player to receive nine cards. They are then able to place their faces on any playing area - except where there are sevens. The nine remaining cards are dealt to players. They then take turns looking at each one and decide to raise, call, or fold. If a player stays in their box for three consecutive calls, they are declared the winner.

The nine cards that make up the variation of Fan Tan are not numbered and are laid out in the same way as the normal version. An excellent example can be seen in jackpot rounds in which the sequence may either help the player to win or deprive them of the win, depending on the cards that are drawn. There is also the possibility of a match-up between two players in which one could win more than the other.

The game begins by drawing seven cards face-down. The dealer who is the first typically picks one of the cards. The seven cards are laid face-down on the table. Each player can then place his hand on the top of the cards. Then comes the blind draw, in which the player has to pick up the cards without looking at them. First, the dealer draws the first card. then the second, third and forth until the final card is drawn. The dealer will then reveal the initial card and then reveal the third, second, and fourth cards.

The session ends with the unveiling of the fan as well as the unveiling of the top card.
