No Limit Texas Hold'em - Switch Gears!
The rules of poker can be overwhelming at first, especially for a novice. The poker chips, poker rules, betting and pace surely got me confused when I first started, but like anything, the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Texas hold em poker rules don't easily lend themselves to a strategy, at first, so reading up on how the pros look at it really started to give me an angle.

One of the main problems I used to have with c-bets was that I used them every single time I raised before the flop. It was just what I believed - what kind of whimp would make a raise before the flop and then check? It just didn't seem right to make a preflop raise without a continuation bet.

poker betting strategy A "Squeezing" bet is used to limit your opponents pot odds in a short-on the level* game. You use this bet when you have a strong hand and you've put your opponent on some kind of write. The odds are they will not hit their draw so you place a bet and form them pay to chase after their draw. This way you'll be good to accrual the size of the pot or they will fold to you as they do not long to risk chasing the draw.

Your opponent's chip stack also makes a huge difference, not only to the size of your bet, but as to whether or not you will bet at all. If you make a pre-flop raise of $300 and your opponent calls with only $300 left in his stack, he is pot-committed and you will not be able to bluff him after the flop. The exact tip is to never ever check and never ever call. What's that? Never. Yes never. When you play this aggressive style you only ever raise or fold. And if someone else re-raises you and it comes back to you, you can only re-raise them or fold.

Finally, forget about bluffing! We spoke at the top of the page about keeping things simple... and nothing underlines this point more than bluffing. As much as I love the feeling of bluffing an opponent out of a huge pot, you just can't do this while you're playing against fish.

But it is only done when the cards are good to avoid the others betting higher. The check-raise happens when you check your opponent, so that he may be tempted to bet, and you will then raise back. Moreover, the opener is done by bluffing the opponents by reverse steal-raise.
