Make sure you have your tablet, smartphone, as well as your laptop when you go camping with your kids.

It's something I've learned the hard way. My mother was on my shoulder all week, telling me to make this list and to keep that in mind. I told her only my excitement of taking my first camping trip of my life with my kids and grandkids. Then she came in, huffing and puffing with instructions and advice on every aspect. I am not averse to my mom speaking. Not listening to her lecture makes me uncomfortable. I made a terrible error and realized that the next day, or two, was the fault of me.

We set off in the car, intending to bring it all back to the campground. To recreate the trip my dad had back in the day, I chose a remote spot which would turn out to be later on, was not in service. Our smartphones were out-of-service and we were basically the only camping campers in the region. Don't blame me, I was expecting to have a wonderful time off from work, 3 days out there in the nature and with nature.. We were back in the car on the way home 24hrs into the camping trip..


What was the next thing that happened? What happened? I had a laptop and a couple of online games but couldn't even take it out of my bag.. I had a great backdrop I could use to entertain my kids. They wanted to check their email, check their texts, school matters, etc. We packed up and headed back. My kids sound like little pigs enjoying delicious food when we got out of the wifi-less zone. I really do cherish my children. This was just embarrassing. They squealed and groaned as their phones began to sound a beep, signalling new text messages.

Since then, I've learned how to prepare better and try not to be in an internet-free zone without even some roaming available. After an extended boat ride towards our destination, I discovered myself in need of my new most trusted companions: two tablets and an laptop. They were equipped with Hulu streaming video on one side, Netflix movies, and shows on the opposite. The laptop also had music videos, as with some films that I downloaded to watch later with Hulu and Netflix apps via the Windows app store. I have approximately 600 hours of content to enjoy, which includes all of the South Park, Friends, and Will & Grace seasons.

There are many fun videos for children. I downloaded a few YouTube music videos and then converted them to MP3 and MP4 formats. I utilized this application to download a few videos. It lets me save the video on my laptop so that I can view it offline, if that I have power. I DVR a lot of movies, TV Shows and online lectures, seminars, etc, anything that's worth watching later, and I save them in the format of mp4 to my laptop, later simply play them using VLC or KMP or anything else that can play video files and supports 4k.

Another thing that I insist upon is 4k. Have you ever seen? It's amazing! I strongly recommend. Televisions with 4K picture support have incredible software that enhances and process the picture. The old footage is much more appealing on the new TV, even it's not very good initially, it's just a squarish kind of blockish recording. However, it transforms into nice and smooth contemporary video streaming. All girls and boys will love it! save youtube
