The online video storage service is not reliable Sites can close or even break. Here's how to back up your social video content to your laptop.

My personal story isn't a a big one... I was born, went to college and worked, fought and finally, achieved something online. I prefer to have my laptop near by for those moments. It is my last line of defense against loss of data. There are two drives I have, which I use as RAID stacks. They copy each other and keep one copy in the event that one of my HDDs is damaged. I only copy stuff there so the laptop doesn't fail.

Another sad day was a few months back. I do my best to not perish in the process of completing any work. Like I said, I have duplicates of it many times. It is also available online at any time internet connectivity is available. This was Periscope. It was something that I frequently used a time ago. Even in summer, when there were protests in the city, I was able do a few live streams. Now Periscope TV is closing down and all videos will be gone in a few weeks. What should you do? I visit his website that allows me to download videos directly from Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and other sources. I am a passionate participant with underground movements, politics and so I film a lot, save and upload them to my YouTube channel. When the live stream is finished the video is saved to my laptop. This is the way I work. It allows me to share YouTube videos on Facebook but also to upload the video on Facebook. The uploaded video will be then its own video. So, over the last 8 years, I have three TB of live feeds. Periscope Lives will not go out of fashion.. It helps me a lot.

It's flawless. Open the Periscope video that I wish to download and copy the URL from the share link. Then I go to the website for video downloads to copy the URL, then hit the button. Within minutes, I am presented with a variety of choices to download the video. Periscope might not be available on all sites. The site has the ability to manage the m3u8 file other websites download on behalf of you. Then, I go to the website for video downloaders and paste the video's link wherever they would like it. Then, I click big button. Video is not downloaded to my computer, it's online and can be played online as the player loads small fragment files each time.

Windows copy is a method to combine these fragments into one single file. It's because of MpegTS the format for video, used to split the video fragments. Also called transport stream. It is a complete set of data necessary for decoding video in each fragment. Each stream can be launched from the middle of the stream with no interruption. It also keeps data off the browser since it downloads 360x10 second files instead of the 1hr files. So, when you only watch 25 seconds of the stream, it will only download 4-6 fragments. (It receives 3-4 fragments from the current 25 second period, plus one or two additional fragments if you continue to watch the stream).
