Don't take part in online seminars with exclusive video content. Instead, get a video download.
This is applicable to live videos that are available to subscribers and are only a brief duration. It hasn't stopped my use. I am experiencing a very slow and spotty Internet connectivity at home because I use this mobile hotspot WiFi from the cheap motel next door. Once in a while I will deliver water to their office. The password updates occur every few weeks. This helps me save money on purchasing my own home Internet. Is it really that hard to get your home internet connection via cable? I prefer to connect to the Internet at the motel , and leave that out. This gives me to have more privacy, and I don’t have to put my street address on my IP address to conduct internet-related activities.

So whenever an online seminar is offered by my investment adviser or my school hosts a lecture with a well-known professor, or there's an underground party streaming, it will be exactly the same. Because of my connection speed streaming video isn't possible for me. As you will see below it takes downloading videos around 2-3 times as long as it should. My connection is also extremely slow. I'm able to only stream videos with no buffering interruptions, and my connection is only 30% slower than what I could need. I came up with a method to get around the speed limitation. I simply saved online video to my computer so that I could view it repeatedly without having to stream it again.



This is what I've been doing lately.. I start the Chrome browser. Firefox, Safari and every other browser with an inspect tab. Right-click the page, and call the page to inspect. There, switch to network tab and look for the video playlist file. It will most likely be something with the extension m3u8. The process is that the video stream is split into several small files. The internet browser downloads them one at a time, and plays them all in order. It is a smooth process that requires more data transfer than the size of the file. This is the way the MPEG stream is created and it's not a reason to complain.




After that, I right-click on the playlist file and copy the URL (into my clipboard) Then, I go to the website that allows me to download online video. I enter the video playlist URL in the input box, click submit, and I am presented with a variety of download options. These are the possible file sizes as well as the time to transfer. The higher the quality of the file bigger, the bigger it'll get. I'd rather pick lower quality even if it's too slow for my Internet.



I downloaded the file. It is usually the format mp4 used for video files. It takes a while, but the benefit of knowing is what always drives me to keep doing it. I don't have an opportunity to watch it streaming, so saving the live videos to my laptop makes the sense. It's the way I stay updated on all data offers available these days.. It's what I do to keep my brain engaged with fresh concepts as well as ideas and intriguing technological advancements.
