Redlining and racism go hand and hand
Keep the poor away from the rich
white from those with a darker tan
as the money flows
the children on the wrong side suffer
neighborhoods dont look too good
not enough food stamps for supper
property taxes pay for most of what you see
one side has new books and tutors
the other side has math books from 2003
its a privilege to grow up where you actually learn
this investment into those children has a wealthy return
home owners, law enforcement, lawyers, and politicians
to maintain this status there is only condition
they proposition with one another for modern day slaves
who will those slaves be
well the children that were seen as belligerent and misbehaved
these children were just tired
and needing to be saved
saved from a corrupt system that invented the school to prison pipeline
poor oppressed children just waiting to be the next headline
poor oppressed children that just needed a lifeline
poor oppressed children tossed to the sideline
