In his 17 years in government service, he was promoted numerous times, and eventually became the Director-in-Chief of the Ministry of Commerce and Trade's Hotel Management Department.

At the beginning of the 1990s, new business opportunities unfolded in Kazakhstan during the time of the Soviet Union collapsed.

That led to Kazakhstan becoming an independent republic and the private sector opening up to Kazakhs.

He resigned from his job as a government official and began multiple businesses in luxury realty development, food, exports, imports, and other fields.

Tevfik Ariff's diverse business ventures in many sectors have given him access to an extensive network of national as well as international partners.

International associates led him to seek out new routes abroad. In 1993, he immigrated to Turkey and was one of the first to create hotels that were all-inclusive.
