Understanding Financial Services
Financial services are an important sector in UK economy. Financial services are the commercial financial services offered by the financial sector, which covers a wide spectrum of organizations that deal with money, such as banks, credit unions, credit card firms, investment banks, financial advisers and mortgage lenders. The financial services sector also includes a sub-sector called Financial Planning and Policy Services. One of the main activities of the financial services industry is to buy, sell and trade financial products. Some of the areas in which small businesses look for funding are technology, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and other capital raising activities.

The fifth area of finance is that of consumer finance. This includes all forms of finance designed to assist consumers with their financial goals. Examples of these financial products are consumer credit counseling, auto financing, student loans, mortgages, and more. In this regard, consumers actually obtain financial services to help them understand and fulfill their financial goals.

Another important sector of the financial services sector is that of banking. Banking sector is the core activity of the banking sector including branches and offices of the various financial institutions as well as insurance companies. It is also one of the most diversified sectors of the economy giving access to a variety of products and services to consumers such as savings accounts, checking accounts, personal loans, business loans, and so on.

The six sectors of the services industry are investment banking, insurance, banking, capital markets, retail banking, and consulting. Investment banking deals with the lending, investments, and financing of financial products to consumers. Insurance is an insurer that compensates for risks to its customers through premiums paid by them. The capital market is the section of banking that deals with commercial loans and dealings with companies that create stock for trading. Consulting services are provided to consumers to help them with their financial affairs.
