A Full Body Massage: The Benefits
Traditional Burmese Massage, also known as Myanmar Massage, or Burmese Touch, draws heavily on Indian, Thai and Chinese massage styles and techniques. It is intended to promote general well-being. Traditionally, no oils, creams, lotions or pastes are employed during a Burmese massage therapy session, but it's important to remember that it depends upon the specific region in Myanmar where the massage is given and the manner in which the massage is performed. Burmese massage therapy is generally quick, focused, and warm. It is geared toward relaxation. The goal of any massage is to assist clients to reduce muscular tension, increase the flexibility and range of motion. improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, improve mental performance, rejuvenate and revitalize the body, ease muscular spasms and tension and reduce stress. It is the ultimate goal of massage to induce tranquility and peace which will allow clients to recuperate faster from stressors that are acute.

We have learned to adapt the Myrtle or chamomile massage techniques to various styles and cultures in western nations, such as the US, Japan, Canada and Australia. In eastern countries like the one called Myanmar massages are more part of the routine of life, rather than being a ritualistic event. My experience with the Burmese massage Thailand massage or any other massage has been consistent over the years of performing Thai massage and has been created by a group of students from the Far East, who come from the lineage of traditional massage professionals who were known as the "Druk Yai." This tradition is not nearly as numerous as other kinds of massages practiced throughout Thailand. It has its own healing principles and advantages.

As an Asian massage therapist who worked for six years (and nights) in northern Thailand, I did not encounter the widespread use of the "Myrrh" that I've seen in the other areas of Thailand. This could be due to the limited ability of the Thai language to accurately translate the word to the English language. I spent about two years living in northern Myanmar so I have plenty of information about the myrrh practice in the region. Some changes I've seen over the years may be due to the change from myrrh-based healing to "herbal medicine."

Myrrh isn't a common ingredient in Thailand's other. It could be because of the acceptance of herbal and natural treatments. Massages in Thailand continue to make use of creams, oils, and waxes. It is believed that this is due to the huge number of messages (masseurs) that are hired to provide massage services. A lot of Thai massage spas make use of oil-based therapies since they are believed to be "luxurious".

A number of spas that massage in Thailand include those in northern Thailand have also adopted the idea of aromatherapy , as well as oriental herbal medicine. These techniques are used across Europe as well as the United States and Canada. Traditional healing arts are not used in many Thai massage spas. It is my opinion that this is due to the fact that these kinds of approaches do not conform to the rules of the larger, more conservatively run massage spas found in northern Thailand.

My experience of traditional Burmese massage revealed a different style from the westerners I was studying. This particular style, which I'd call "Myanma" or "Myrobalan", involves gentle pressure being applied to specific acupoints in the body. It is usually done by the process of kneading. This technique of massage involves lengthy strokes, which differ from the typical Thai massage techniques in which the massage practitioner is using both hands. After the massage, my skin felt relaxed and I could sleep well.

My research has also resulted in me learning that the classic Burmese massage is usually accompanied by the consumption of a specific herbal concoction. The most well-known ingredients are some of the ingredients like Lavan, Brahmi and Mistletoe. While the herbs vary from one region to another but the goal is to create feelings of relaxation. My research showed that massage therapists from northern Thailand utilize Ostrich feathers, ginseng, and traditional Burmese methods to aid clients with muscle spasms related to arthritis.

The benefits of a complete body massage are well-known. The relaxing effects it offers to my body and mind were obvious after I received it. These full-body massage techniques aren't exactly what Thais call, but I can tell you that I felt more alert and energetic following the massage. I felt a sense of wellbeing that spanned my whole body. The basic techniques that my Myanmar massage teacher taught me gave me the confidence and strength to tackle my everyday tasks without worry or stress.
