How to keep current with music from your own country, even if it's 10 years since you left.

What are you doing? I am a Russki teenager who moved to America for a better future. I was poor in Russia and had no wealth. My family, not me in the sense of. Russia was a nation where young adults were not required to have money as they grew up. So, we had to think of new ways to make money. Many methods were employed and most of them involved asking neighbours for money to purchase their communal vodka. So, I made it to America. There's nothing quite like New York, Brooklyn or Brighton Beach. This place is a great reminder of my home. It's noisy, filthy, full of Russian language, and people are rude. There's plenty to do, like going to Russian music and bookstores.


I love music, and I love to read books. In the end, it's not difficult to find Russian literature using Kindle. This is why I no longer buy hard copies books. My wife, who is almost an over-stufferer, doesn't have much space in her home, so I try to avoid buying unnecessary things. Although the books I had stacked up looked intelligent the first few month but they grew dull and boring when I realized that I had room for my other stuff.

Music is a different matter. Since my work requires driving frequently I also listen to a lot of music. Being a Russian immigrant, I haven’t had the opportunity to experience the latest music that I have heard in the USA. I simply don't like hip-hop, rap metal, rock, and pop. And all the new age music that kids love to dance to.. I really enjoy the old Russian music, and also the Russian songs that are jail-like. They're still very loved in Russia even after 20 years. They do put everything on Youtube nowadays. You are able to find me on YouTube throughout the day, and even after work.

After some time, I was able to build a long playlist of more than 300 songs that I thoroughly enjoy. Since there are more than 300 songs, it's simple to get used to the music. However, I'm unable to access the Internet to download them to play in my car. This is because I use it to navigate and driving. I record the songs at home. Now that I am in the middle of the list, I record a few songs on Youtube and convert them to MP3 files. After that, I burn the mp3s onto a CD using my laptop. I then take the CD into the car to listen to. This website I found allows me to download an entire Youtube playlist and print all the songs. Each song can be converted into mp3 and saved on my computer. Then it's easy to transfer it to audio CD. Sometimes I'm mistaken and just make data CD, that won't play in my old car stereo. However it is possible to record audio. It's amazing to look at how technology works. I don’t need to go online or have any other gadgets to play MP3. I just insert CD into the car stereo and listen to the Russian music that is booming in Manhattan.

It is simple and cheap to download Youtube videos as mp3 and then save them to your Smartphone. My friend connected his phone to his car stereo , and the phone started playing high-quality sound within less than two seconds. He was also able stream Spotify as well as Pandora radio. It's not even requiring a lot of internet connection. This is something I'm going to try in the near future. But I will use only free wifi.
