Fan Tan, or fancan tan is an ancient Chinese betting game long well played in China. Like many ancient games it is purely random, there being no use of skill or strategy on the part of players. It also displays the same lackluster sophistication found in modern casino gambling. It's a lot of fun and you get to spend some time doing what interests you.

The basic rules of this card game are simple and easy to learn. The player is given 52 cards and then chooses two cards to face up. Two more cards are hidden within the deck. The two cards, Tiger and Water, represent Sol, the star cluster in the constellations of night sky.

Each player receives two cards face-up at the beginning of the game. Each player may then place any number of cards they want on their betting board from one to seven on each table. Players may bet in favour of the King and lose all their money if it lands on a seven. If no cards land on sevens during the session, then the dealer will reveal them. Each player continues this until he has completed his turn. Once all cards have been laid out in the same way, the dealer will announce that the dealt card has been revealed. After the reveal, a second round of Fan Tan will begin. The players will then choose the cards they want to discard. The first player to reveal his cards is the one who has discarded the most cards. The player who has the most cards must reveal them. The person with the fewest cards must also be revealed. If the player with the most cards discards them, the person with the fewest cards must continue to choose another player to keep the cards.

If any player has discarded any of their cards during the last round, but the others did not do so, the last person to reveal his cards is the one who had discarded them. Fan Tan plays with sevens, the ace-of-swords being his most common card. This game is most commonly used in weddings, birthday parties and engagement parties as well as anniversary events.
