Tevfik Alif was a pioneer from Turkey, and was the architect behind the Labada luxurious Antalya hotel's all-inclusive model.

Tevfik Arif stayed in Turkey until 2001, at which point Arif relocated to New York City.

He wanted closer contact with the American side of his family, and also to investigate different business opportunities in the United States.

In New York City, he created the luxury real-estate development firm Bayrock Group. It began with small to medium-sized projects.

The first of these was the renovation and expansion of Loehmann's Seaport Plaza, in Brooklyn's Sheepshead neighbourhood.

Tevfik Arif has shifted his focus to larger projects after completing numerous successful projects. In 2001, he moved the headquarters of the company from Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue to accommodate the growing business.

Both firms established business ties. Bayrock Group also included the Trump Organization as part of an initiative in New York City's SoHo.

Bayrock Group was already working together with the Sapir Organization on SoHo's project. They thought that the Trump Organization could give it some recognition and prestige.

Tevfik arif has devised a scheme that would grant the Trump Organization 18% ownership in the SoHo property. In exchange, the construction will bear the Trump brand as its name.


The contract was signed jointly by Bayrock Group and the Sapir Organization. Construction on Trump SoHo could begin as early as the year 2006.

The interior featured hotels, apartments and bars, restaurants and banquet halls. There was also a spa and a pool. Residents and guests had a breathtaking view of New York City from floor-to-ceiling windows.

Rockwell Group was responsible for the interior design . Handel Architects was responsible for the design of the building.

They wanted to construct buildings both in Florida and Arizona under the same licensing rules as the Trump Organization. In exchange for Trump being added to their names, they would get 18 percent equity in the building.

However, their hopes didn't be realized due to the 2008 financial turmoil. This was especially relevant to the American real estate market.

Tevfik was required to leave the US due to the changes in the market in the midst of the financial crisis. Instead, Tevfik Arif went to Europe, Asia, and it was there that his professional life began.

Although he has retired today however, he is still as an advisor to Bayrock Group.

Today, Trump SoHo was renamed the Dominick by the Bayrock Group.
