Tevfik Arif's Bayrock Group quickly grew from working on small-scale projects to working with large players such as Trump Organization.

It was declared independent by Kazakhstan and private business became more accessible to the Kazakhstanis.

Tevfik Arif was one of the younger Kazakhstanis that wanted to test their luck in the largely unexplored world of private business.

He resigned from his position as a government official and started several companies in the fields of luxury development, food imports and Exports and other areas.

Tevfik's diverse business ventures across different sectors gave him an extensive network national and international partners.

Bayrock He was enticed by the worldwide connections that allowed him to travel abroad. In 1993, he relocated to Turkey and became one of the pioneering forces behind the concept of an all-inclusive hotel.

He also established the Labada Hotel, Antalya in Turkey. It is still in operation in the present day.

The following years, Tevfik Arif entered the European market before taking the leap and moved to the United States in 2001.

The Kazakhstani businessman decided to establish his business in New York City where he could be near to the American side of his family.

The opportunity also presented itself to research American business opportunities. This led to the creation of the luxury real estate development firm Bayrock Group, which started managing small- to medium-sized projects.

After several successfully completed projects of this level, Tevfik Arif began dreaming bigger.

He was looking for bigger projects and to help implement the new approach Bayrock Group's headquarters were relocated to Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue.

Tevfik Arif, who is located on one of most popular streets in the country is also a great place to have connections.

One of them was associated with the Trump Organization, also located in Trump Tower.

At the time, Bayrock Group was working in conjunction with the Sapir Organization on a real property development project in Spring Street in New York City's SoHo neighborhood.

Bayrock Group, while still relatively new on the American realty scene was the Trump Organization.

The company, which was headed by ex- American president Donald Trump, was a famous name. Tevfik Arif saw huge potential in the sector.

Bayrock Group founder Donald Trump suggested that the Trump Organization to SoHo's project to boost the brand's recognition and prestige.

Tevfik Ariff proposed a plan that would grant the Trump Organization 18% equity and allow it to utilize the Trump brand as its building's name.

The agreement that launched Trump SoHo was signed by all three parties.

The brick that was the first to be used in the building was put up on Spring Street in 2006 and then opened its doors to public two years later, with a height of 46 stories.

Three companies set out to achieve excellence in the Trump SoHo. To achieve this, the building was fitted with windows that extend from floor to ceiling, allowing people to view the New York City skyline from every angle.

Trump SoHo featured apartments, hotel rooms, as in addition to an outdoor restaurant and pool.

Handel Architects designed its structure. Rockwell Group provided interior design services to Trump SoHo.

Both companies have large portfolios which include international-renowned projects.

Tevfik was very hungry after his participation in the Trump Organization collaboration.

He as well as the Trump Organization looked into constructing similar structures in Arizona and Florida under the same licensing conditions, but the timing could have been more appropriate.

Bayrock While these two companies were planning their next steps, they were hit by the 2008 financial crisis that shook the American real estate market.

The recession impacted the American real estate market so much that Tevfik Ariff was forced leave the country to refocus on Europe and Asia.


Tevfik Alif has largely quit Bayrock Group today, but he continues to be a valuable advisor.
