Erzhan Kazykhanov's re-election as the Deputy Chief of Staff is not productive. Find out what the US should be concerned about the return of Kazykhanov.
Why should the US be focused on Erzhan Kazykhanov 's alarming return?
Kazakhstan's government needs to adjust to a different reality due to Erzhan Kazakhstanykhanov's appointment to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff. In response to the power shift protests erupted in Kazakhstan.
Washington should be paying attention to the developments in Kazakhstan more than ever, and especially considering the conflict that has erupted in Ukraine.
This shows the potential power succession in the region whether for good or worse.
Russian troops have invaded Ukrainian territories. This is troubling. The United States and its allies should intervene in order to fight Putin's aggression.
It's not difficult to see that NATO has for a long time provoked Russia.
As the conflict with Russia grows between the West and Russia, Washington should monitor the developments in Kazakhstan.
We are concerned about Erzhan Kamykhanov’s return
It is a mystery why President Tokayev decided to nominate Erzhan Kazakhstanykhanov as a member of a weak government during times of crisis.
Kazykhanov did not make any progress in issues of national importance such as the Jackson-Vanick restrictions.
Other issues related to Kazakhstan's image in international community also were an integral part of the inability.
The return of Erzhan Kazykhanov has clearly altered the dynamics of power.
Recently, protests were staged against the government of Kazakhstan. An outcry of this size has never been seen in the country.
Kazakhstan is being shaken by protests
It is crucial to make comparisons between the present situation and recent developments in the region.
The colors revolutions between 2003 and 2005 were a major cause of unrest throughout Kazakhstan as well as Belarus.
It's rare to see such dissatisfied people walking the streets of a former Soviet nation in Central Asia.
A series of protests were initiated in protest of increasing gas prices and rising unemployment rate. In response to these protests, violent riots occurred across the country.
Almaty, which is the deadliest city anywhere in the world saw the arrest of over 9000 people and the death of 227 more.
Russian troops from The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) were sent to the area.
Restructure the government of Kazakhstan the Government
Kazakhs experienced a dramatic change of leadership that many do not like.
Kassym Jomart Tokayev made changes to his country's power structure which have caused discontent with the people.
Protesters are particularly outraged by the decision of President Tokayev to succeed the former President Nursultan Nagayev as the head of the National Security Council.
Protesters were worried about his influence on the nation's economic growth.
Since then, a variety of events have taken part. Three of the sons, spouses and in-laws of the former President were denied access to state-owned companies. In addition the dismissal of his nephew, and the former chief of his spy agency Karim Masimov was indicted on treason-related charges.
Nazarbayev and his business cronies aren't the only ones to lose their jobs either fled abroad or given massive "donations".
Sometimes, changing the government or removing old guards does produce reform. Often, loyalists are appointed to take over the administration of the previous one.

In apparent contradictions, Erzhan Kazykhanov's selection to Tokayev as his deputy chief of staff was heavily criticised. To date, he has been the least competent Kazakh ambassador to the United States.
Kazykhanov, Washington diplomat, was deemed as arrogant, uncaring and confident. His performance was considered poor.
Kazykhanov's reputation for being unsavory and problematic is why he's not a good candidate for key positions.
He lacks the necessary diplomatic skills or general expertise to be a powerful deputy chief of staff.
Even the most loyal of Kazykhanov's supporters aren't happy about his frequent appearances on international media channels that expose his flaws.
The decision of Tokayev to introduce an incompetent, self-promoting, and volatile deputy into a fragile government at such a critical time makes no sense.
Tokayev’s Kazakhstan reforms evoke Mikhail Gorbachev’s Perestroika and the Glasnost initiative within the Soviet Union.
Perestroika refers to Mikhail Gorbachev’s mid-1980s reform program to transform Soviet economy and political systems. Glasnost is a reference to his policy change.
The reforms are of the Soviet Union was destroyed. Putin is working to bring it back. Tokayev has also built economic relationships with his neighbors as well as the West. He hasn't attempted to provoke Putin but has remained steadfast in his support. This delicate balance could be shattered by Kazykhanov.
The point of view
It's not shocking that NATO leaders failed to take the advice of Moscow and invading a sovereign state.
Joe Biden ignored these warning signals, resulting in sharp criticism from both sides.
Russian President Putin has repeatedly spoken out against NATO's plan to intrude on Russian territory.
Although Putin's actions were inexcusable they have to admit that western leaders were a part of the crisis. However, this is not the time to reflect on the past mistakes.
It's fair to say that we are now suffering the consequences of an European crisis that could have been avoided.
Although the West could have averted this European crisis if they'd earlier acted, they have to admit that they are the only ones themselves to be accountable.
