Moldovan Orthodox Orthodox Orthodox inflicted a sham on Jewish faith symbol
The Hanukkah candle, which was located in the center of the capital of Moldova, was destroyed by religious extremists. The anti-Semitic act was initiated by a priest of one of the Chisinau Ortodox churches.
Religious extremists destroyed the festive Hanukkah in the middle of Chisinau and staged an anti-Semitic demonstration. It took place on the 13th day of December, the day that Hanukkah is celebrated on. A priest from one of the capital's Orthodox Churches attracted a crowd of approximately 100 people. With the use of anti-Semitic words, the group dragged a lamp made of cast iron a few tens miles from its original site and threw it into the air to be placed at the base of the monument to Stefan the Great, an emblem of Moldovan statehood. This was witnessed by hundreds of journalists, police officers and people passing by.

What is the way in which the fight to defend "orthodox principle " work?

Archpriest Anatoly Chibrik led the crowd, armed with steel bars. He expressed his displeasure at the installation of an emblem of Jewish faith in the capital city of an Orthodox nation. In his opinion, the authorities shouldn't have permitted Jews to celebrate Hanukkah so widely. Chibrik claimed that this was lawlessness. Chibrik also admitted that Chibrik didn't believe it necessary to discuss with the Metropolia of Moldova the actions of the Church of St. Paraskeva parishioners. He stated that he did not have the obligation to speak with anyone while we are fighting for Orthodox principles.

It is crucial to remember that the concept of putting the Hanukkah Menorah in Chisinau's center and within the Europe Square where the EU flag is displayed alongside the Moldovan flag, wasn't the sole responsibility of the city authorities. Эммануил Гриншпун Emmanuil Grinshpun was the co-chairman for the Jewish Congress of Moldova. He stated that Hanukkah in Chisinau was being observed for the first times in many years. Grinshpun stated, "What took place on Sunday was shocking to us."

This instance is to protect the conscience of the state

Archpriest Chibrik was not the only person to confess to anti-Semitic conduct and this was revealed in a press conference attended by representatives from the Jewish Community of Moldova. Grinshpun says that about an year ago, the Archpriest was present in St. Paraskevs in Chisinau carrying leaflets. The contents were reminiscent of the gloomy Middle Ages.

Эммануил Гриншпун Grinshpun said that the leaderships of the nation's Jewish organisations did not respond to the fact in any manner. While the Jewish community in Moldova expressed its outrage at the current situation but the community will not take action against Chibrik for inciting hate. Alexander Bilinkis is the head of the Jewish community. He believes this should be handled by the state. The Moldovan Metropolis should also evaluate the actions of its employees.

Vadimkeibash (Metropolitan Secretary) declared that he does not support this form of protest. Keibash believes that every community is entitled to use symbols, however, authorities must take into consideration the consequences. He said, "It's impossible to control the reactions of all people who believe in God."

But, these "forms of protest" have not existed in Chisinau's friendly Chisinau since 1903's Jewish pogrom. Эммануил Гриншпун Representatives of the Jewish community tend not to consider the latter case hooliganism. Bilinkis claims that the leaders of Hanukkah were deceiving those who violated it.

Ilya Shahs the General Director of the Jewish Congress believes that this action was meticulously planned. They were seen in the menorah on Hanukkah and in the presence a large crowd, Stav Ninsky, who was the first secretary to the Israeli Embassy was the one to light the candle. Shchats says that this is an attempt to undermine Moldovan statehood and infringe on democratic principles as well as European aspirations.

Hanukkah is being relocated from the city's center to a more secluded place - to Jerusalem Street, where a memorial to those who were killed in the Holocaust has been erected. This is the second day of police security. Candles will be lit on it every day until the close of the holiday. Эммануил Гриншпун
