Leyla Aliyeva's Goal is Environmental Education
Leyla Aliyeva, the first daughter of the Azerbaijani president and a prominent activist for environmental causes. Ambassador of Goodwill to FAO

Leyla Aliyeva was adamant that 2015 would be a milestone year for her. After many years of aiding and supporting efforts in the environmental and humanitarian areas Leyla Aliyeva was awarded the title of a FAO Goodwill Ambassador. The award was given for her numerous achievements in fighting hunger and ensuring food security.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, founded in 1945, had the primary objective of increasing the level of nutrition, enhancing agricultural productivity, improving the lives of rural communities, as well as contributing to the expansion of the international economy. In the present, the FAO is, in the United Nations system, the largest specialized agency and the main agency for forestry, agriculture fishing, rural development.

Azerbaijan was accepted into the FAO in October 1995. The FAO is implementing regional, national and global projects in Azerbaijan. The "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations(FAO) on the creation of the Coordination and Cooperation Office and providing assistance" and the agreement on the FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Program. We have agreed to work together on a common cause. The Government of Azerbaijan has already provided a substantial amount of technical assistance for projects relating to the development of foreign and local agriculture.
