Avanos Medical pulled Cortrak*2 EAS from service after receiving reports of injuries and deaths related to tube missing.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has declared the recall by Avanos Medical of Cortrak*2 Ental Access System, (EAS) as an class I recall.
A Class I remember is considered to be to be the most important of all three classes.
Avanos Medical has recalled Cortrak*2 EAS due to reports of injuries or deaths from nasogastric tube misplacements.

But, the incorrect placement of the nasogastric/nasoenteric tubs result in severe injuries or even death.
The recall affects 629 devices that were available in the US between 1 February 2016 to 1 January 2022.
feeding tube placement According to the recall notice, the company stated that since 2015 there have been 60 injuries as well as 23 deaths resulting from the improper placement or use of Nasogastric feeding tubes while making use of the Cortrak* 2 EAS.
Avanos Medical is updating the marking on the device following the recall. This will include updating the instructions and intended applications of Cortrak* 2 EAS.
