Avanos Medical recalled Cortrak* 2 EAS after reports of injuries and deaths due to tube missing.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has identified the recall issued by Avanos Medical of Cortrak*2 Ental Access System, (EAS), as an I class recall.

The company is recalling 629 devicesthat were sold in the US between 1 April 2016 until 1 January 2022.
The recall notice from the company stated that 60 patients suffered injuries and 23 died due to the wrong placement of nasogastric tubes when using Cortrak* 2 EAS.

The updated guidelines instruct users to confirm that the tube is installed in accordance with the guidelines of the institution before to use.

The company agreed to buy OrthogenRx at $160 million during December. Avanos Medical closed on the acquisition in January.
