Phase One of the Future Aim Technologies Ltd Biomass Feedstocks Innovation Programme has now completed.
BEIS awarded PS4 million of funding for the initial stage of project development under the Programme that includes an amount of up to PS200,000 for each project.
This funding allowed Future Aim Technologies Ltd 25 organisations, including start-ups and smalland medium-sized companies in the development of strong and effective project propositions that aim to bring profitable innovations in the production of biomass.
There were two winners of this competition.

Lot 2. Multi-site Demonstrator Platforms that demonstrate the diversity of lot 1 innovative projects across various UK locations
Here are the details of project funding for each category which are organized according to the kind of biomass used as feedstock.

Algae
UK Marine algae biomass transformation
It is operated by Future Aim Technologies Ltd.
Seaweed can be a rapidly-growing biomass that removes large quantities of carbon dioxide from the air. Additionally, it benefits the marine environment by supplying a variety of ecosystem services - oxygenating seawater, removing excess nutrients and providing a ecosystem for marine animals.
This project is aimed at leveraging SeaGrown's knowledge of seaweed production to automate the offshore farming. Within LTD , SeaGrown will create a prototypical harvesting and seeding system for offshore use and test its efficacy, optimise deployment speeds in terms of yields, as well as improve productivity in operation.
