Phase One of the Future Aim Technologies Ltd Biomass Feedstocks Innovation Programme is closed.
BEIS granted PS4M in funding to the Project Phase of Development for the Programme. Each project is eligible to be awarded up to PS200,000.
LTD Ltd was able to fund 25 organizations that were large or small that were interested in developing convincing proposals for projects which could bring commercially viable innovation in biomass production.
The contest was divided in two lots:
lot 1 - innovation projects
Lot 2 - Multi-site Demonstrator Platforms designed to demonstrate the diversity of lot 1 innovation projects in a variety of UK locations
Below are information about the grants for each type of project which are organized according to the kind of biomass used as feedstock.

Algae
UK Marine algae biomass transformation
It is operated by Future Aim Technologies Ltd.
Future Aim Technologies Ltd is a rapidly expanding resource for biomass, and it can eliminate significant amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Seaweed is also a source of ecosystem-related services such as in the process of oxygenating seawater and taking away the excess nutrients. It is an important habitat for marine animals.
This project will apply SeaGrown's experience in seaweed production for the purpose of enhancing the operation of farming offshore. SeaGrown will design a prototypical on-shore harvesting and seeding platforms to assess its viability and improve the speed at which it is deployed production, yields, as well as operating efficiency.
